At day two of the Computex Taipei conference today, Microsoft offered a sneak peek at a new Windows 10 2-in-1 made in collaboration between an unnamed local manufacturer and Porsche Design.
The new Windows 10 convertible has a 13.3-inch screen, runs on an Intel processor, and will come with a pen. The device also supports Windows Hello 2.0 biometric readers, Cortana, and Windows Ink.
According to Microsoft's corporate vice president of OEM, Nick Parker, it will also be available this winter, and come with the Windows Anniversary Update out of the box.
Microsoft hasn't said which OEM is partnering with Porsche Design and is keeping further specifications and pricing under wraps.
The machine will also have a metallic design and feature USB-C charging, according toWindows Central.
The Windows 10 device will be the first Porsche Design convertible, but joins a number of BlackBerry handsets and other devices that the German car company's subsidiary has helped design and market. Fortunately, the Windows 10 device doesn't appear to be as jarringly hard-edged as the most recent BlackBerry Porsche Design device.
Microsoft's OEM partners have churned out a ton of new devices this week to show off the spectrum of Windows 10 capabilities and price points, from Dell's whopping 17-inch Inspironconvertible to MSI's new Backpack PC for VR gamers.
Meanwhile, Windows 10 devices that don't have built-in support for Windows Hello now have a new option to add support with the MouseComputer USB-connected infrared camera.
Finally, Acer this week announced two budget 2-in-1s, the Windows 10 Switch V 10 convertible and Switch One 10, which should be available in the US and Europe over the summer.
Its higher-end TravelMate P2 series Windows 10 notebooks will arrive in Europe in August and by the fourth quarter in the US.
